Hey there, I'm Hannah Queen, baker and photographer. I live in the Appalachian mountains of North Georgia, and I love Jesus. I like simple things, fresh ingredients and flowers, tea with honey, good music (mostly folk and bluegrass, big band and classical), trips to the farmers market and early mornings. I’m the happiest when I’m in the kitchen, creating something tasty, and when I’m behind my camera, taking pictures of everything I see.

we love Jesus too. we recently started blogging as a married couple and we thoroughly enjoy your blog. God bless.
ReplyDeleteHello from a fellow foodie/blogger, Hannah. I can only echo all the good comments above... beautiful, inspiring... such talent and grace.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the photo for your header. I'm assuming you took it. What I'd really like to know about is that tea cup -- it is so unique and... I don't know, rustic. It looks like the work of a skilled pottery maker. Can you share info about it?
Keep up your excellent work. I was thrilled to find the German Apple Cake recipe -- looks and sounds like the cake my husband's late German mom used to make for him. I would love to be able to replicate it for him.
Hi Lynn! That cup is from shopterrain.com and it's called a "Wabi Sabi" mug. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through my cousin's site and am now hooked. I love your pictures, and of course the food. How fun that you were homeschooled--my husband and I were both homeschooled (we met in the second grade at a Book It! pizza party) and very much enjoyed the experience.
ReplyDeleteHi Hannah, Thanks for the info about the "Wabi Sabi" mug. I just checked out shopterrain.com and... WOW.... I know this is going to be one of my favorite places to shop for special items. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteDear Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog from a fellow flickrite who made me their contact. In her caption below her picture she sites you as her images viewed for the tasra365 project. Please excuse the fact I'm not computer savvy and don't know how to hyperlink. I don't have a MAC. Here's the flickr site who introduced you http://www.flickr.com/photos/priti_j/4388227247/.
Now, I would like to tell you that I am simply impressed with your knowledge of photography and command of writing style. I could contribute it to homeschooling but I've met incredible young adults like yourself who learned in public schools. Ultimately, it comes down to desire, will, ambition and passion. You have these great attributes.
Very soon, you will be discovered by magazines if you haven't already. Take your talent along with your love for Jesus and enjoy your future.
You are a the breath of fresh air needed today.
Good luck in your endeavors.
BTW, I am number 315 to follow you.

ReplyDeleteYour blog is my favorite one to read. I love your simple, nature-first photography and your posts about all of the wonderful things in your life. Thank you for providing great reading! I have one question for you: do you use a photo editing program? If so, which one would you recommend? How do you get the words in your blog title on the egg picture? Thanks for the advice, and I'm looking forward to reading all your future posts!

I just "happened" upon your blog - from a twitter trail....It is lovely. How blessed you are to have found your passion at such a young age. I think your recipes look amazing - I am all about a good scone and Southern summers without the unbearable humidity. Keep up the good work!

I am a photographer as well. One question I have: so you edit your pictures? And what with?
It has been an incredible treat to visit here...thanks! I'll stop in often!!
So I was trying to figure out if just eating a piece of toast and one fried egg for breakfast was bad for you and I fell in LOVE with a picture of yours of a piece of toast with egg so I clicked on it....that was about 4 hours ago. Now I am basically stalking you (>,<). Your sites are amazing, your images are GORGEOUS and as a photographer I love running into other peoples blogs and websites. I couldn't ever think of a cute little name for anything I do blog/business wise so I just settled for something with my name on it but looking at your stuff I now want to think of something more unique. There is another lady who does photography of babies, her site is "Milk&Honey" I think yours and hers goes somewhat hand in hand :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute, love the site and will definitely follow often!
Hannah,
ReplyDeleteWhat sweetness you bring in your words and beauty-capturing and love for Jesus! I adore your photos and recipes shared. I think you are lovely.

ReplyDeleteVery sweet blog! Nice and simple. I'm almost a Ga girl, born in Jacksonville, FL, which everyone says is really just a part of Ga. ;0) My mom is from Brunswick. I look forward to looking at all your yummies! Bountiful Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteSo, I cooked a couple of your recipes in the last few weeks, and not only have you got myself addicted, but Boyfriend has started to fall in love with your blog too.. So long as I cook. Disasters happen when he goes near a fork, let alone a whole kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI happen to know a lot of friends here who have done the same - you have admirers in Sydney, Australia! Which I guess makes you an international sensation! :P
your photography is gorgeous! I put off starting a blog for the longest time because I wanted to wait until I had the right name. I think that was probably the hardest part about starting one!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeletei just had to read about you! oh you are just beautiful- im loving on that photo! and i just can't get enough of your blog. i dream of cooking with you, someday. yep, that is my dream. big smile.

I just found your blog, and I must say I'm in love! So nice to hear about another Georgia girl doing some great stuff. Love the photography and food!
ReplyDeleteHi from Ohio. I came upon your blog a few months ago and am very impressed. Your photography is beautiful and inspiring and although I haven't tried any of your recipies I'm hoping to do so soon. I see that you've come to a slowing of posts, I recognize that too, especially after your experiences with your Mother last year. Writing can be very theraputic, so please keep on doing it. Hoping you have a great holiday season this year spent doing the things you love.
ReplyDeletehaha, I know what you mean about the name. I thought of a name for my blog forever. And now I'm not entirely sure... Love yours though. :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how have I never seen your blog before? And you should hear the rabbit trail I followed to find you... last week my cousin in Colorado told me about a blog a friend of her's has and said it would be something I would really enjoy cause I really like to make things from scratch, well her friend in turn mentioned on FB today about a blog she really likes... and his blog is in... Australia. So after taking a gander through his blog I see a blog that he has listed that looks really interesting... hmm honey & jam.... two things I'm really passionate about! So my journey started in Indiana, headed to Colorado, then Australia, and now Georgia! Across the world and back!!
ReplyDelete(now if only i could come up with a name for my blog that i really like... you would think that at 47 i would be a bit more decisive.... not so but thankfully the Lord is patient!)
Well it was nice "meeting" you and I can hardly wait to try so many of your recipes!
I love your blog, Hannah! I've been following & baking from here for almost a year, but never read your about page. I am so happy you did! I was surprised you are so young. You are so talented! :)
ReplyDeleteI am a Jesus follower who grew up homeschooled, too. And I love to bake & cook. I wish I could take amazing photos like you!
you're so beautiful and lovely! <3
ReplyDeleteHello hello!! First, I LOVE the name! Second, I love Jesus too! And love the fact that you said you love Him on on your 'about.' Third, my friend, Tana (or Tanya) Karpitskiy says she knows you. So I think you should come to MN and you and Tan can go on a picture frenzy while you and I whip up some amazing things in the kitchen! We can make some amazing Russian cakes. What do you say?:)
ReplyDeleteI love that you said you love Jesus in your bio :) I knew you seemed like such a sweet girl! I love Jesus too! Love your blog and once I'm out of college for the summer, i will try alot of your recipes!

Hi Hannah, you are an inspiration and your work is beautiful. When you have a moment could you please answer these questions :)
ReplyDelete1- You said you shoot with a Rebel before (I own a Rebel T3i), do you find a big difference between the Rebel and the 5d mark ii?
2- How do you do your beautiful dark photos?
Thanks in advance and you are so gifted. Hélène from La Cuisine d'Hélène
Hi Hannah!
ReplyDeleteYours was among the first few blogs that I sifted through when I first got inspired to start a cooking blog as well. Love the lighting in your photos and the painstakingly-created carefree way you arrange the ingredients and additional props.
A few months ago I decided to start my own blog - unfortunately I don't have a professional camera like yours, and use only my cellphone camera to capture the important moments during my cooking process (for quick shots and easy reach). Just wanted you to know that as my site evolves, yours will always be among those who I go back to every once in a while for references and ideas, so thank you very much for past and future inspiration!

Hey Hannah!
ReplyDeleteI managed to find your blog while avoiding studying. I live in the mountains of North Carolina, and you completely hooked me with your post "of apple orchards and pie parties." I often find myself dreaming of Appalachian autumns, particularly this time of year, and you reminded me of the promise of the coming months. Thank you for making my mouth water and putting a smile on my face.
